Anton literally walked off the street in September 2006 and asked if he could do a radio show. "I was getting pretty bored with sitting at home and enjoying my music collection on my own. I realised I had a lot of material that was different to what every other radio station was playing, and I suspected that many Radio Today listeners would enjoy my musical tastes and how I intended to present the programmes. So I spent some money on professionally recording a demo show, walked into reception and asked to be given a chance. Radio Today took me at my word and gave me the chance to present a two hour live show that weekend, using whatever material I chose. I was petrified, but tried not to show it, and since then, I have calmed down a bit and have kind of become something of a regular". Anton's main love is jazz, but is currently hosting a regular vintage pop and rock show, which he presents once a week. "Besides all the big names, I love finding great records by unknown or forgotten artists, who otherwise might not be heard. I have also learned to love the buzz of doing a live show and it's an absolute dream come true being able to share whatever knowledge I might have picked up over the years, with the listeners out there. Thank you Radio Today for believing in me". Anton's philosophy on life ; " Always try to be yourself and avoid taking yourself too seriously". His greatest regret : Never having learned to play a musical instrument "but at least it means I have a little more time and money to spend listening to the music that I enjoy". |
