Anita Scott calls her show New York New York, because she is a native Brooklyn girl. She is herself a cabaret singer, and she presents a diverse and eclectic mix of music with knowledge, humour and insight. While the overall feel of her shows leans towards the nostalgic, no genre of music is off limits. She has showcased performers as divers as Jascha Heifetz, the Three Tenors, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Miriam Makeba, Abba, Blood Sweat and Tears and Danny K – and even, occasionally, herself. Her songwriter featurettes have focused on, among others, Irving Berlin, the Gershwins and Burt Bacharach. She punctuates the music with jokes and smart sayings, and always puts on a thoroughly entertaining show where anything can happen – and probably will.
